Cost Accountant | Jenison, MI

Salary Range: $63,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for all products and components.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and report on root causes.
• Manage inventory valuation, including work-in-process, finished goods, and raw materials.
• Prepare detailed cost reports and profitability analyses for management.
• Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, focusing on production costs.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and process improvements.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure accuracy of cost data in the ERP system.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for presenting cost analysis.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills (e.g., VBA, Power Query) for complex data analysis.
• Specific module expertise in major ERP systems like SAP CO or Oracle Cost Management.
• Knowledge of Activity-Based Costing (ABC) implementation.
