Job Description

Our client, an environmental services company, is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to support permitting, monitoring, and reporting activities across its Philadelphia-area operations. This is a contract position suited to a professional with a solid grounding in federal and state environmental regulations who can work independently while coordinating with site managers and regulatory agencies.

The role involves reviewing facility operations against EPA and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection requirements, preparing permit applications and renewals, and maintaining documentation needed for audits and inspections. The specialist will also track regulatory deadlines and flag potential compliance gaps before they become issues.

This position offers exposure to a range of industrial and commercial clients and is a good fit for someone who wants hands-on regulatory experience without the overhead of a full-time corporate compliance role.

Responsibilities

  • Review facility operations for compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Prepare and submit permit applications and renewals to relevant agencies
  • Maintain records required for environmental audits and inspections
  • Track regulatory deadlines and reporting requirements across multiple sites
  • Coordinate with site managers to address compliance gaps
  • Draft standard operating procedures related to environmental compliance
  • Support responses to regulatory agency inquiries and site visits
  • Assist with employee training on environmental compliance procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs
  • Working knowledge of EPA and Pennsylvania DEP regulations
  • Experience preparing permit applications and compliance reports
  • Strong written communication skills for regulatory documentation
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple site deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management systems
  • Valid driver's license for occasional site visits

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly contract pay
  • Weekly pay cycle
  • Opportunity to work across diverse industrial sites
  • Potential for contract extension based on performance
  • Professional development in environmental regulatory work
  • Flexible scheduling for site coordination
  • Networking exposure with regional environmental agencies
  • Referral bonus program through Careerscape
